At age ten, I turned to my mom with a mouthful of soggy cereal and asked her, "whohts ze meaning of lyyph?"

I've chewed on that question ever since.

Thoughts of is life about acceptance or change? Contentment or growth? keep me up at night (despite having a sound machine). I’m endlessly wrestling with understanding the impact of nature versus nurture, our wiring versus our will, and acceptance versus hope. Instead of singing, I write a pros/cons list of whether our phones make us depressed or connected on my steamy shower door.

In EXISTENNIAL, I explore these, you know, casual conversation starters (for you to use if you ever need something to say to the lady alongside you getting a manicure).

"She’s real, funny, & relatable"

Not long ago, I reached what I thought were the trappings of a good life. I was astonished [read: depressed] to discover that happiness; accolades, TV appearances, and the accumulation of followers do not make.

Science explains there’s a distinction between chasing happiness and pursuing meaning. Ohh, ok, alrighty, then.

This brought me back to the drawing board of how to live said meaningful life.

Truth is: this pandemic shakeup has brought us all back to the drawing board of how to live a meaningful life.

So, here we are. Together. Holding sanitized hands at the drawing board.

It’s for us that I write EXISTENNIAL, with the hope it’ll help you and I feel less alone in exploring how to craft a truly satisfying life.

To quote Dr. Seuss because all I mostly read these days are kids' books (is he canceled?): “You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose.”
