Chocolate Coffee Protein Smoothie! for #nationalcoffeeday or #everyday

National Coffee Day, which is what today is (and really, what for most people is #everyday!) has never meant squat to me. It’s not that I’m anti-caffeine – I looove me some matcha , I just don’t at all like the taste of coffee.

Maybe it stems from that time when I was 8 and was playing in the snow in my backyard and got insanely thirsty so I ran into my house, grabbed a thermos and chugged like a frat brother and 2 minutes in realized that I wasn’t chugging water, I was chugging coffee and almost vomited?!

Or maybe I’m just not a coffee person. 

Either way, this year, National Coffee Day DOES mean squat to me because I happened to win a cutthroat smoothie competition last week with ironically, this chocolate coffee protein smoothie:

  • ½ cup cold brew coffee
  • ½ cup almond milk
  • 1 scoopSunwarrior's chocolate protein powder!
  • 2 medjool dates (pitted, of course!)
  • 1 tsp cacao nibs (optional but awesome)
  • 1 tsp maca powder (also optional but also awesome)
  • 1 handful ice
