LISTEN HERE OR ON ITUNES:
Erin Willett is an alumnus and semi-finalist of both The Voice AND The Biggest Loser, making her one of the coolest and most courageous females around – with kickass vocals AND kickass boxing skills to boot. Despite losing 87 pounds in one of the weirdest environments (The Biggest Loser ranch) Erin has an incredibly grounded, inspiring approach to weight loss and overall health. It’s actually pretty amazing to hear how balanced she is with food and how she credits exercise as not her first or even her second major factor for her tremendous transformation!
A great big thanks to Genexa for sponsoring this episode! This might be mind-blowing but Genexa is actually an ORGANIC MEDICINE company (<– no that’s not a typo). Genexa has a line of 11 one-better-than-the-next homeopathic medicines that work with your body to rid itself of anything from a cold, to allergies, to sleeplessness, to stress, to muscle pain to jet lag!
And when I say “they work with your body” I really mean it! For that’s what homeopathic medicine is: it’s medicine that utilizes plants to kind of remind our body of it’s abilities to work properly. It’s as spectacular sounding as it is tasting (seriously – their chewable pills that come in fabulous flavors such as vanilla lavender, grape, and acai berry).
As a Party in My Plants podcast listener, you can save a whopping 30% of any Genexa products!! Just go to their website and use code PARTYPLANTS.
Notes from this episode:
In 2012, Erin was on the Voice! Team Blake, yo. She was one of the final two singers on his team.
Then she was on Season 17 of The Biggest Loser! And was on the ranch for 4 months.
“You have to change the inside before you can change the outside.”
Erin had to push through her pattern of quitting her healthy weight loss efforts before she saw results. She really had to focus on doing what is right for her.
It’s all about perspective. Erin says…
“Do I want the thing that’s going to be better for me or the thing that’s going to give me instant gratification.”
Consistency is key and knowing that doing what’s right for you is going to be a lot more fulfilling than just doing it for the results.
There’s no such thing as overnight success. It’s a constant job to have to think about your choices. You have to choose wisely every step along the way to achieve your goal.
Erin learned that it’s effective to be like: “I have a feeling, let me analyze this feeling before acting on it.”
The order of the things that contributed to her 87-lb weight loss:
- Mindset – “because if you don’t have the mindset, the diet and the movement aren’t gonna happen”
- Diet – “you can change your entire body with just your diet.”
The biggest thing she took back from the ranch? Consistency.
Words carry weight. Indulge > cheat.
“At the end of the day, I want to know what I’m putting in my body.”
“When people ask me how I lost so much weight, one of the things that I say is that I ate so many more vegetables than I ever did in my life.”
She loves butter lettuce tacos!
She also loves buffalo cauliflower. (Literally sautéed cauliflower with some buffalo sauce.)
“I’m a top of an oven type person.”
“Running is a way for me to meditate and put myself first. My workout time is MY time.”
Take it one choice at a time!
“You have to lose the first pound to lose 50.”
